Slachthuis De Lokery

The former De Lokery slaughterhouse in Lokeren, Belgium, was an important part of the regional meat industry for many decades. Originally established in the 1960s, the facility processed large numbers of pigs every day and provided employment for many local residents. Over time, however, complaints about odour, traffic and environmental issues placed increasing pressure on the site’s future.

After its final closure in late 2016, the complex was left abandoned. Machinery, refrigeration equipment and sections of the old processing lines remained in place, serving as reminders of the building’s industrial past. The site has since been demolished, but De Lokery remains a notable part of Belgium’s industrial heritage.
