Società Industriale Toscano Colori

For many years, the Sitoco factory symbolised progress and industrial growth. Inside its vast halls, dyes and chemical products were manufactured for Italian industry, while the steady rhythm of production shaped daily life in Orbetello Scalo.

From the 1980s onwards, the industrial landscape began to change. Stricter environmental regulations, outdated facilities, and increasing international competition put pressure on the factory. Eventually, production ceased and silence settled over the site.

Today, the abandoned complex stands as a decaying shell of concrete and steel, slowly reclaimed by nature. What was once a place of labour and industry has become a quiet industrial ruin a tangible reminder of an era when chemical manufacturing helped shape both the landscape and the lives of the region.
