Duffel Hospital
Along Rooienberg in Duffel, Belgium, stood the AZ Sint‑Maarten hospital campus – a familiar building to many in the region. Established in the 1960s, the hospital provided care to the residents of Duffel and surrounding communities for over half a century. At the time, its facilities were considered modern and advanced, making it one of the most progressive hospitals in the country.
In the autumn of 2018, the hospital officially closed its doors. All departments, including the emergency ward, were relocated to a new, central campus in Mechelen‑Noord. Soon after, the site was abandoned. The hallways stood empty, the lights remained off, and once-busy rooms fell silent.
On December 16, 2019, demolition of the complex officially began. What was once a place of care, life, and constant activity was dismantled in just a few months. By 2020, most of the site had been cleared
