Ignaz Ginzkey & Co
In Vratislavice nad Nisou, there once stood a prominent textile factory founded in the 19th century by Ignaz Ginzkey. Gaining international recognition for its production of carpets and blankets, the factory became a key symbol of the region’s industrial development. During the early 20th century, the complex was significantly expanded, with several buildings designed by renowned architect Leopold Bauer.
After World War II, the factory was nationalized and continued operating until the late 20th century. In the 1990s, during the economic transition following the fall of communism, production gradually came to a halt. The site was later repurposed and is now home to various modern businesses.
Although the original textile operations have ceased, the industrial heritage lives on in the impressive architecture that still bears witness to the factory’s storied past
