Kraftwerk Boxberg

Kraftwerk Boxberg is one of the largest lignite-fired power plants in Germany, located near Boxberg/Oberlausitz in Saxony. It was built in the 1960s and reached its peak in the 1980s with an installed capacity of 3,520 megawatts, spread across 14 units. After German reunification, most of the older units were shut down due to environmental regulations.
