Mil Mi-24 / Hind Army Chopper

The Mil Mi-24, known by its NATO codename “Hind”, is one of the most iconic helicopters ever built by the Soviet Union. Introduced in the early 1970s, it stands out for its unique combination of roles: a heavily armed attack helicopter that also functions as a troop transport, capable of carrying up to eight fully equipped soldiers. Essentially, it’s a flying tank with wings – fast, armored, and deadly.

The Mi-24 gained notoriety during the Soviet-Afghan War, where it proved highly effective in mountainous terrain thanks to its firepower and durability. Since then, it has seen action in numerous conflicts across Africa, the Middle East, and most recently, Ukraine – consistently demonstrating its battlefield effectiveness.

Over the decades, the Mi-24 evolved through several upgraded variants, including the Mi-24V and the modern Mi-35M, which features enhanced weapon systems, night vision capabilities, and improved engines. Even today, the Mi-24 remains in active service with many armed forces around the world – a lasting symbol of Soviet engineering and battlefield power.
