In the harbor area of Krefeld stands a remarkable industrial complex dating back to the early 20th century. Around 1907, a modern grain mill was established here, later expanded with a striking tower-shaped silo completed in 1916. These brick structures formed the core of a thriving business focused on the processing and storage of rye and barley.

During World War II, the mill became part of a larger milling company, and in the 1960s, it was taken over by a new owner who continued using the site for grain storage and transshipment. Despite changes in technology and industry, much of the original structure has remained intact, including the distinctive 1916 silo and the former administrative building.

Although industrial activity on the site has largely ceased, most of the buildings still stand. They serve as a valuable example of early industrial brick architecture, characteristic of the grain-processing industry of the time. Today, the complex is mostly abandoned, yet it still carries the traces of its rich past as a regional hub of food production and logistics.
