This abandoned horse clinic was designed for the specialized treatment and diagnosis of horses. The different rooms show that the facility provided much more than routine veterinary care. It contained operating rooms, diagnostic imaging equipment, ultrasound facilities, a laboratory, and dedicated areas for horses undergoing general anesthesia.

One of the most striking remains is the large CT scanner. The scanner has a wide opening and a long examination table, allowing parts of a horse’s body to be examined. The original control console, complete with monitors and operating controls, can still be found in an adjacent room.

The complex also contained specially equipped operating areas. Heavy rails and lifting systems run along the ceilings, some marked with a maximum capacity of 1,000 kilograms. These installations could be used to move anesthetized horses between different treatment areas. Surgical lights and other medical equipment are still present.

Several rooms are lined with thick red protective padding. Such spaces were used for the induction of anesthesia and for recovery afterwards. Because a horse can fall or make uncontrolled movements while going under or waking up, padded walls helped reduce the risk of serious injury.

Signs on the doors still reveal the original functions of several rooms. Among them are “Ultraschall” (ultrasound) and “Labor” (laboratory), while warnings such as “OP – Kein Zutritt” and “Während der Operation kein Zutritt” restricted access to the surgical department.

After the clinic closed, a remarkable amount of its equipment was left behind. Medical installations, ceiling-mounted systems, treatment rooms and parts of the CT system remained in place. Moisture, dirt and decay have since taken their toll, while parts of the former medical complex appear to have been used for storage and housing horses. Despite the deterioration, the original purpose of this abandoned horse clinic is still clearly visible.
