FVC Textile Factory
The FVC Textile Factory was a Belgian textile plant that operated during the second half of the twentieth century, at a time when the textile industry still played a significant role in the regional economy. The factory focused on the processing and finishing of fabrics, using large-scale industrial installations such as weaving looms and continuous production lines designed for mass production.
Like many comparable companies, the factory came under increasing pressure from the 1980s onward. Market globalization, cheaper production abroad, and rising operational costs made it increasingly difficult to remain competitive. Eventually, production ceased and the site was taken out of use.
After its closure, the complex was largely left untouched. Machinery, workshop floors, and infrastructure remained in place while the buildings slowly deteriorated due to a lack of maintenance and exposure to the elements. Today, the site is regarded as a characteristic example of Belgium’s industrial textile heritage that has gradually disappeared over time.
