Důl Centrum

Founded in 1888 in the Most region, Důl Centrum became one of the largest deep brown coal mines in the Czech Republic. Over the decades, surrounding mines were merged, and the site was modernized. Until 2016, it operated as the country’s last active underground brown coal mine, producing 280,000 tons annually. After its closure, the shafts were sealed, and some buildings were preserved as industrial heritag.
