Chiesa San Bernardino
High on a mountain peak in Italy, far from towns and roads, lies an abandoned monastery. Its remote location offers breathtaking views over valleys and hills a place once meant for peace, reflection, and solitude.
The monastery was built in AD MCMLVI (1956), likely intended as a retreat for a religious order. The complex is modest but solid, consisting of a main building, two churches, and several outbuildings.
Though it has been out of use for many years, many features remain intact: wooden pews, faded frescoes, and a bell tower still rising above the landscape.
Wind now moves freely through its empty halls, as nature slowly reclaims the walls. What remains is a quiet witness to a time when silence, prayer, and simplicity defined daily life.
