A Short Story About Myself
My name is Patrick Beukelman, born in 1984 in Zwolle, the Netherlands. Since 2005,
I’ve been passionate about urban-exploration (urbex) photography capturing abandoned and forgotten places through the lens.
It all started in the Waterloopbos near Marknesse, where the remains of the former Hydraulic Research Laboratory lay hidden deep within the forest. The contrast between man-made structures and the relentless force of nature reclaiming them left a lasting impression on me. From that moment on, I was hooked a new passion had taken hold.
Over the years, that passion has grown into a way of life. I’ve now been exploring and photographing these locations for over 20 years, often traveling further and deeper to discover unique and hauntingly beautiful places. My photographic style is rooted in realism; I aim to keep my images as true to life as possible, avoiding heavy post-processing to preserve the authenticity of each scene.
Much of my work is featured on this website. Every photo on this page is taken by me personally. In the shop, you’ll find my work available for purchase in a variety of sizes and materials. If you have specific requests or custom ideas, feel free to get in touch, I’m always happy to help.
