Grössling City Baths
Originally opened in 1895, the Grössling City Baths became one of Bratislava’s most important public bathhouses. At a time when many homes lacked private bathrooms, the complex provided swimming pools, public baths, steam rooms, and therapeutic facilities for the city’s residents. The elegant indoor swimming hall, featured in these photographs, was added during a major expansion in 1914, while further extensions followed in 1929.
After decades of service, the baths gradually declined as modern housing and private wellness facilities became more common. The complex eventually closed its doors in 1994, leaving behind its beautiful historic architecture.
