Lanerossi

The Lanerossi factory in Schio, Italy, played a key role in the country’s textile history. Founded in 1817 by Francesco Rossi and later expanded by his son Alessandro, the company grew into one of Italy’s largest wool producers. In 1862, the iconic “Fabbrica Alta” was built a six-story factory that symbolized not only industrial progress but also social responsibility, offering workers schools, housing, and support services.

During the 1960s, production gradually moved to more modern facilities outside the city center, leading to the closure of the original factory in 1967. Although operations ceased, the building remained as a significant piece of industrial heritage. In 1987, Lanerossi was acquired by the Marzotto Group, which continued the brand with a focus on high-quality home textiles like blankets, cushions, and throws.

Today, the abandoned “Fabbrica Alta” still stands as a cultural landmark, representing Schio’s industrial past. There have been ongoing efforts to preserve and repurpose the structure, ensuring its historical value endures for future generations.
